NEEDED: ALPHA LEADERS! Alpha is a 12-week beginning Christianity course that our church offers each year to people who are searching for answers to their questions about faith, other religions and Christ. An Alpha group meets in a home for dinner, watches a DVD on a topic, and then discusses it together. We are looking for those in the church who have a heart to reach people outside the church. The Alpha Course is a great outlet for our body to utilize to invite friends, co-workers, or family members who are not believers to investigate and explore the Christian faith in a non-threatening manner. Anyone who is interested in helping lead an Alpha group, please call Della Peterson 729-3054 or Georgina Dahill 967-5606. There will be an Alpha leaders training coming soon. Please call ASAP for more information. THE NEXT ALPHA COURSE WILL BE OFFERED LATE SEPT.
TOUCHY SUBJECTS: ILLNESS, DEATH & TAXES! Sunday, September 19th, 2:30-4:30pm in The Living Room – SBCC Administration Building. Elizabeth Robbins and Pamela Magenheimer will lead a workshop and discussion on what you need to know, how and when to plan with practical and easy paperwork preparation for the final stages of life. Together we will help you through the organizational maze with compelling stories, insight, humor and compassion. Space limited. Organizers provided.

JOIN A ROCHA… this Saturday, September 4 as we continue to raise food for our Five Loaves: Food For Those in Need project. These plants just arrived and we have lots to do! No farming experience or tools are required. This is a great opportunity to bring your friends, family, and co-workers who aren't part of a church and get them involved with a practical project that helps meet real needs in our community. Join us for part or all of our event 9am-1pm by signing up here: http://tiny.cc/arochavolunteer or call 805-613-SBAR.
PRAY FOR MUSLIMS DURING RAMADAN: Ramadan is August 11th-September 9th this year. This is a month when Muslims around the world abstain from eating and drinking during the daylight hours in order to focus on God, and celebrate together in the evenings. To receive a daily prayer reminder, please sign up online at http://www.30-days.net/ at the bottom right of the webpage. This year's prayer topics include a special focus on Christlike relationships with Muslims. Jesus calls his followers to experience and live out the love of God. This love is made accessible to all people through Christ, who came into the world "full of grace and truth." However, because of cultural differences, threats of terrorism and negative stereotypes of Muslims, many of God's people shrink back from fulfilling Jesus' command to love all people. Help expose Muslims around the world to the love of Christ by faithfully praying for them during Ramadan.
BETH MOORE SIMULCAST: On September 18th, the women of the Santa Barbara area have an opportunity to unite in worship and be challenged by Beth Moore's teaching as we join together across churches and denominations. Last year there were nearly 20 different churches in the Santa Barbara area represented at this event! Register online or look for more info at www.CalvaryChapelSB.com. Early registration at a discounted price of $25 ends Sept. 5th and includes lunch.
MOPS: MOPS is a program designed to nurture mothers from pregnancy through their child’s kindergarten year. MOPS provides a setting where moms can encourage one another, grow deep friendships, learn from speakers on relevant topics and enjoy social time together during this vital stage of early mothering. Please pick up a flyer on the Welcome table or contact Krista Knoles at 455-1775 or kristaknoles@hotmail.com for more information.
MOMS IN TOUCH: In a MIT prayer group you will learn how to lay your fears, burdens, and anxieties at the feet of Jesus, as well as intercede for your child, their principal, teachers and school events. You will also learn how to pray specifically and scripturally when you commit to praying one hour a week, using a 4-step prayer method: praise, silent confession, thanksgiving and intercession. There's something very powerful that takes place when women pray with one another, face to face, and heart to heart. If you'd like to be part of a MIT prayer group, or start one for your school, please contact Area Coordinator Lisa Maraszek, 683-2785 or at lmaraszsek@cox.net. Visit our website: www.momsintouch.org.
