OUR MOTIVE

  • Raising up the next generation of leaders, by providing a space for new leaders to use their gifts
  • Becoming more accessible to the "unchurched," by gathering at a time and place that may provide ease for those new to our body or those who may not come to a traditional church service
  • Engaging issues that are socially relevant, by connecting scripture to social issues most concerning to our body and community, and by designating space for dialogue and action

OUR HOPE AND VISION

  • To be another entry point into the body of Christ
  • To be a smaller gathering where people can dialogue about God as a community
  • To be a place where people can come as they are, ask questions, and experience God in the midst of their grief, loss, joy, etc.
  • To be connected to the larger body of SBCC
  • To be dependent upon the elders of SBCC for wisdom, guidance and prayer

THE ELEMENTS OF SPACE

Teaching

  • Scott Douglas will be our main speaker, with guest speakers at times
  • Intention to regularly connect scripture to Gospel themes of justice, mercy, service and hospitality in teaching and throughout service

Worship

  • We will have opportunities for space within worship, encouraging silence, meditation and reflection
  • Use of additional mediums in worship including different types of musical pieces and the visual arts

Communion

  • As a part of our time together each gathering, we want communion to be understood and be a central part of what we do together in worship

Building Community and Service

  • Intentional times of regularly scheduled fellowship following the service
  • Dinners together following service
  • Service opportunities together in our community
