Women's Ministries

Our mission statement is Colossians 2:2:

My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Santa Barbara Community Church Women’s Ministries

"The Gathering”

This fall '08, we will be having a Thursday morning group of Bible studies at the church called "The Gathering."  (The name is given primarily to distinguish it from the other studies meeting on other days and times.)  Each small group will be studying something different, but there will be a collective time at the beginning to socialize and to worship together in a collective devotional gathering.  Childcare will be offered.  We need you to take a quick on-line survey so that we can better plan towards the fall -- Will you help us by participating?  Here's the fun part:  Your participation in the survey automatically enters you in a drawing for a $50.00 Trader Joe's gift card!

Our desire at Santa Barbara Community Church is that women will be drawn into deeper relationship with Christ through broad venues for fellowship with other women.  Our vision is two-fold: (1) That all ministries under the “canopy” of women’s ministries be ones that welcome the neighbor, the seeking friend, or the family member that doesn’t yet know Jesus; and (2) at the same time, equipping women for leadership within the Body of Christ.

If you are interested in becoming more involved in women's ministries, we welcome you! The following activities and groups are available, with contact information listed:

Women’s Bible Studies:  We have several women’s Bible studies going throughout the week.  If you are interested in either joining one, or leading one, please contact Bonnie Fearer, bonnie@sbcommunity.org.

Mom’s groups:  These groups provide an opportunity for building friendships with other moms with similar-aged children.  They often meet at parks around town, and are a wonderful way for children (and moms) to build new friendships.  Contact person: Jill Baker, ajbaker@verizon.net.

Panel Discussions:  Throughout the year we have been having panel discussions on a variety of topics.  If you would like more information about this, contact Katherine Hilzer, kjhilzer@cox.net.

Prayer Groups:  We would like to offer prayer groups for small groups of women who desire to grow in the discipline of prayer together.  If you are interested in being involved in a women's prayer group, please contact Lisa Jolley, ljolley@cox.net.

Hospitality: This group organizes the greeters and welcome table each Sunday, as well as a few fun nights for the women each year.  They also organize “Soup’s On,” an after-church dinner at different homes to welcome newer people to our larger fellowship at SBCC.  If you     are interested in becoming involved, contact Heather Merrick, hmerrick@gmail.com; Karen Taylor, kaytee.sb@cox.net; or Lori Ridenour, lridenour@cox.net.
